The manufacturing of textile substrates for Mobiltech applications in terms of raw materials, construction, combination, functionality and recycling should be optimally aligned.
Increasing requirements for comfort and safety in cars/trucks result in a rising share of textiles in automotive applications. It ranges from rear shelves to seat covers and automotive wiring harness coverings. For composite constructions of trunk trims, rear shelves and floor units, mostly thermoplastic powders are used. Textile components in form of knitted or nonwoven distance fabrics invisibly provide a more comfortable seat-physiology in the seat construction.
New applications with textile components are absorbent nonwovens in batteries or fiber-optics in textile liners to illuminate specific areas (foot space, recessed grips, head/side liner) of the vehicle interior. Textiles and textilebased composites take over more functionalities in areas of shock absorption, acoustic insulation or heat protection.
